What is Financial Aid?

The majority of students need some sort of help paying for college. Every college has a financial aid office that works with students to try to give them that help. The different kinds of support that you can receive—grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study—are all part of financial aid.

Estimating Living Costs for College

You will also need to plan for several other costs. One major cost is transportation. If you commute to campus each day, you may have to pay for gas, tolls, insurance, and maintenance for your car, or for public transportation.

Books and Living Fee at College

Most students are not used to buying books for their classes until they get to college. For most classes, you will need to purchase one or more textbooks.
