They are likely to be creative thinkers or performers in dance, theatre, music and fine arts. They are excellent writers and speakers and write many provocative articles for literary magazines published at Bowdoin.

After all, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Franklin Pierce were in the Bowdoin class of 1825, and we know the rest of their stories. The common denominator here is that students are very concerned about sustainability, not only for Bowdoin but also for the world.

They love to explore alternative forms of energy such as wind mills in order to protect nature and take stewardship of the environment. Although there are no fraternities or sororities, many students belong to outing clubs and are skilled at outdoor sports. They also socialize around themed parties in their residential houses on Friday night. Some really identify with the house they were assigned to by Bowdoin in the freshman year and continue to socialize with that group through the four years.
