Bowdoin College Social Environment Part (2)

Others like to socialize by joining clubs, like the swing club, and attending those social events in the student center. Almost everyone on this campus is attracted to and loves the visual and performing arts even if they are not talented themselves.On this campus almost every student is politically-inclined or has a political opinion about issues of the day.

There are a solid number of bright, under-represented students who add to the socio-economic mix of this community. Bowdoin students are bright, passionate, athletic, artistic and high achieving. Approximately 80% rank in the top 10% of their high school class and are the high school students who juggled a heavy academic load and many extracurricular activities.

They are thirsty for knowledge and so they are willing to work hard as they engage in intellectual pursuits at this college that focuses exclusively on teaching undergraduates. Students typically respect each others’ point of view and freely express their opinions. This concern for others’ ideas and opinions forms an essential element of living in this peaceful, non-competitive, intellectual community. Students enjoy each other’s talents and gifts whether they are modest or exceptional. They exchange information and wide ranging thoughts.
